Fees

Fees and Billing

With rising operational costs and poor Medicare funding, the introduction of private fees to all patient is necessary to allow the doctors to continue providing high quality service.

Discounted fees will be applied to patients who hold a pensioner concession card, health care card, full time university students and children.

If you are having financial difficulties, please do not neglect your health. Please discuss this with your doctor or the practice manager.

Private billing means paying a fee for service. This includes a gap, out of pocket, payment on top of any Medicare rebates.

All appointments must be paid by the patient at the time of visit (Cheques cannot be accepted).

A Medicare rebate is available for most privately charged consultations if you hold a valid Medicare card.

However, rebate is subjected to Medicate ruling. Rebates can take 1-2 business days to appear in patient’s nominated bank account. Please ensure patient’s bank account details are updated on my.gov.au to avoid any delays in receiving rebates.

Figtree Surgery uses SMS reminders as a convenient way to remind patient the day before of their appointment details. This service is a courtesy only and not receiving SMS reminder is not a valid reason for patient to miss their appointment. If you arrive late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule as all appointments are booked at a specific time.

Prescriptions

Patients are encouraged to make an appointment for repeat prescriptions well before they run out of medication. These consultations are important in order to review that the medication and dosage is the most appropriate for you.

It is not usual policy to issue prescriptions without appointments. Repeat prescriptions and referrals without a consultation may be possible.

This service will incur a fee of $50, which cannot be claimed from Medicare.
